Explore STUDIESThe Studies
Invasive Disease Surveillance (IBD)
Surveillance for invasive bacterial disease (IBD) including pneumococcus, at Patan Hospital in Kathmandu. Ongoing since 2005.
Inpatient Carriage (INCA)
Analysis of changes in serotype-specific pneumococcal carriage rates—before and after PCV introduction—among children admitted to hospital with pneumonia.
Community Carriage (COCA)
Evaluation of vaccine impact on pneumococcal carriage in children without pneumonia living in urban and rural sites, as well as children who are too young to be immunized.
Evaluation of Accelerated Schedule (PIMMS)
Randomised controlled trial comparing immune responses to 3-dose schedules of PCV, with or without a booster dose.
Hospitalization Administrative Data (IPAD)
An analysis of hospital records at 5 sites, before and after PCV introduction, to determine changes in hospital admissions due to pneumococcal-associated syndromes.
Assessment of Economic Impact (PIES)
Estimate of the economic impact of pneumonia, pneumococcal disease, and related syndromes on families and hospitals.
